Do not depend upon feelings alone: No matter how you feel, God always remains committed to you. The promises in God's Word, the Bible, are your authority. The illustration below shows the relationship between fact (God and his Word), faith (your trust in God and His Word), and our feelings. Your faith in the fact that a chair will support you causes you to act by sitting in the chair. The result is that you feel the comfort of the chair's strength. Even when you don't feel relaxed in the chair, it continues to support you. In the same way, you must rely on the factual promises of God's Word, rather than your feelings. Good feelings may come and go, but the fact of God's love for you and his forgiveness remain consistent. Who am I in God?
